Transformer Oil Testing Questions

The answers are written to be accurate, responsible and easy to scan on mobile.

What transformer oil testing services does LADLI provide?
LADLI provides routine transformer insulating oil testing and Dissolved Gas Analysis. The routine scope includes appearance, BDV, moisture, acidity, IFT, resistivity, tan delta, density, flash point, colour and sediment or sludge assessment, subject to confirmation in the quotation.
How do I know which tests are required?
The appropriate test scope depends on the transformer, reason for testing, previous results, operating condition and customer requirement. Share the transformer details and purpose of testing so LADLI can prepare a suitable quotation scope.
How often should transformer oil be tested?
Testing frequency varies according to asset criticality, age, loading, operating history, previous results, owner practices and applicable standards. A fixed interval should not be recommended without understanding the asset and maintenance programme.
What is Dissolved Gas Analysis?
DGA measures gases dissolved in transformer oil. The gas pattern and trend can support evaluation of electrical, thermal, insulation-related and air-related conditions when interpreted with asset history and operating data.
Can one abnormal result confirm a transformer fault?
No. A result should be reviewed with the test method, sample quality, previous results, transformer type, operating history and companion tests. Further testing or engineering investigation may be required.
Does LADLI provide sample collection?
Sample submission guidance can be provided. On-site sample collection should be displayed as a service only after LADLI confirms operational coverage, location, scheduling and charges.
What information should be sent with the sample?
Provide the customer and site name, transformer ID, rating, voltage class, sampling point, sampling date, operating status, tests required, reason for testing and previous report reference where available.
How much oil is required for testing?
Sample volume depends on the requested tests and method. Confirm the required quantity and container with LADLI before sampling.
How quickly will I receive the report?
The delivery timeline depends on the test package, number of samples and laboratory schedule. LADLI will confirm the expected timeline in the quotation or sample acknowledgement.
Are LADLI reports confidential?
Customer information, samples and reports should be handled as confidential laboratory records, subject to the agreed terms, legal requirements and authorised disclosure.
Is LADLI NABL accredited?
Contact the laboratory for current accreditation documentation and the scope applicable to your requested tests. Website descriptions and illustrative reports are not evidence of accreditation.
Can LADLI interpret the report for us?
Where included in the agreed scope, LADLI may explain observed test data and highlight notable items. Final maintenance and operational decisions remain with the asset owner and qualified engineering personnel.

Still Need Clarification?
